1. Shy Martin — Slow

Shy Martin

“When I started writing songs I never did it without my guitar. I spent hours and hours writing on my bed with it, and if not there it was on a little pier by a lake next to our house. A few years ago when I moved to Stockholm I stopped writing songs that way. This past summer me, my brother and two of my closest friends and co-writers Nirob and Litens went to spend a weekend at my parents’ place in the countryside where I grew up. We ended up bringing the guitar everywhere we went. It was the first time in years I’d even held the guitar, but I guess going back to where it all started made me feel like nothing had really changed. 'Slow' was written during those days in the countryside. I picked up the guitar while we were eating breakfast one morning and started playing some chords. We were talking about how scary it can be jumping into a relationship immediately after a break up. I really felt like I wanted to keep the feeling we had when we wrote it by keeping the production simple, organic.”

Swedish Singer-songwriter Shy Martin has already proven that she deserves to be named among big names in the music industry such as Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish and more. Her sweet and soothing melodies always dips in a wonderful cozy ambiance. And it’s actually the case with her latest single “Slow” unveiled on January 3rd, with the purpose to seduce and pamper. The track exudes a lot of emotiveness and vulnerability as Shy smoothly delivers a haunting vocal performance. Her songwriting perspective on this vibe, enfolds the fears and concerns about jumping into a relationship after a breakup.

Indeed, with a song like this, she can only be our number one artist on this list and you’ll understand if you decide to join the musical journey she’s offering, by streaming “Slow” below

2. Casey Conroy — Best Shoes

CASEY CONROY

“I always really gravitated to artists that were great songwriters first.” — Casey

With a golden and delicate vocal tone, the Orlando Native Casey Conroy takes us on a magical musical journey entitled “Best Shoes”. Listening to her vocal performance is genuinely like being immersed in a cozy and pampering environment. The song is a beautiful ethereal pop vibe incorporating a tremendous R&B aesthetic, and a soothed acoustic texture. Moreover, Casey’s authentic soprano raspy tone flavors the ensemble, by giving it a certain emotive and sensual sparkle. The 20 year-old also infuses escapist lyrics to express innocence and vulnerability. She confides:

I wrote best shoes in a moment where I constantly felt like I was getting up everyday, putting my best foot forward and the world was just knocking me back down. It got to a point where I felt so defeated I just wanted to run home, to the safety and innocence of what it represents. I wanted to call my mom and tell her I was hurting. Best Shoes is that conversation you have, sitting at the end of her bed, telling her everything that’s wrong.

Casey is definitely one artist to lock under radar because she definitely has the superstar ingredient, most artists are looking for.

3. Becky Hill x Shift Key — Better Off Without You

Becky Hill x Shift Key

“Better Off Without You”

Winter seems to be the season of breakup songs, since we’ve been encountering a lot of breakup anthems like the single “Better Off Without You”, this time offered by London, UK artist Becky Hill and her collaborator Shift Key. Indeed, the song is tremendous commercial pop composition blending electronic elements with a nice house rhythm. It’s, for sure, the type of song you could hear on the radio and easily vibe to, while driving your car.

Becky Hill has an amazing mezzo-soprano vocal tone, and her performance truly gets genuinely absorbed by the Mark Ralph production. Moreover, the song is entitled to colorful visuals displaying Becky in a cheerful mood, with her friends.

From Left To Right…

When Stockholm-based producer Discrete Joins forces with Chilean Producer Sistek, the final product both artists release is an amazing pleasure for ears, actually entitled “Typo”. Indeed, the song is a marvelous downtempo commercial vibe, blending electro-pop ingredients that reminds of a fusion between The chainsmokers’ intensity and texture and Benny Blanco’s melodic smoothness. Moreover, on the track, Discrete and Sistek are joined by two wonderful vocalists/songwriters Victoria Voss and Tudor.

About the song Discrete confides:

I met Sistek in early 2019 and invited him to collaborate with me at my studio. I heard the potential in “Typo” already the first time he played it for me. I asked Victoria Voss if she wanted to take this song to the next step, and within a day we had finished the song. Sistek and I polished the production soon thereafter.

5. Strandels — Not My Party

STRANDELS

"In short ’Not My Party’ is about a love affair. That you’re falling for someone but you’re trying to get rid of those emotions since that person wants to be with someone else. It’s like a forbidden area to even think about. So the story in the song is about crossing that line because both people are drawn to each other, even though you shouldn’t do anything about it. “

Strandels, consisting of sibling duo Tova and Sixten returns with delicious single “Not My Party”, unveiled on January 10th, as a glimpse of their debut album set for spring 2020. We’ve actually discovered the duo back in 2018 when they released their single “Need Your Love”. Since then, Strandels is doing pretty well, counting about hundred and thousands monthly listeners on Spotify.

We’re genuinely confident that it’s only the beginning for this tremendous up and coming Swedish duo, as we believe that they have an enormous potential to set a solid impact in 2020. "Not My Party" is definitely the proof of that upcoming glory. The song, written by the duo alongside Johan Lindbrandt (Alex and Sierra, BoTalks) and Scott Effman (Kelly Clarkson, Justin Bieber) is a catchy, melancholic and delicate composition telling the story of unrequired love.
