According to Donald Glover, the season 3 of Atlanta will be comparable to "Graduation" of Kanye West
This is not the first time Donald Glover has compared his series to Yeezy's discography.
Officially renewed for a third season, Atlanta is expected to return next year, after a season 2 as dark as sublime. Asked about the atmosphere he wanted to give to this new salvo of episodes, Donald Glover opted for an analogy dear to his heart. The creator of Atlanta has indeed explained that this season 3 would be comparable to the third album of the career of Kanye West: "I align the seasons, I think, to me, like Kanye records,” he said. “I feel like this is our ‘Graduation’. This is probably our most accessible but also the realest – an honest version of it – and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.”
These comments echo those of director Hiro Murai and executive producer Stephen Glover at the premiere of Atlanta Season 2, which compared him to Late Registration. On the bottom, Donald Glover here seems to indicate that Atlanta should return to a much lighter atmosphere than the darkness of season 2, without denying the experimental side, which made the reputation of the series. As Stephen Glover explains, Atlanta writers can do more than ever: “I think we have some cool ideas in season three that’ll put some more women on screen,” he said. “There’s a very specific perspective from the Atlanta woman that I think we’re gonna explore in season three.”
The test of season 2 succeeded brilliantly, the future of Atlanta seems more radiant than ever.
